Former Director-General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, Akin Osuntokun, has accused opposition parties of repeating the mistake that undermined their chances in the 2023 presidential election by splitting their forces instead of uniting against the ruling administration.
Osuntokun argued that the opposition’s failure to rally behind a common political force had weakened its ability to challenge the government, warning that the same pattern was being repeated.
Speaking on the podcast Conversations with Prof. Jideofor Adibe, the former Labour Party chieftain described the party as largely irrelevant in the current political landscape, insisting that its popularity during the 2023 election was driven primarily by its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Osuntokun also criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his repeated presidential bids, arguing that his continued pursuit of the presidency runs contrary to the zoning principle, which he believes should favour the South.
