Osun Poll: We Must Wait for Police — Morka Defends APC Amid Fadahunsi Controversy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, has said the police must be allowed to determine the context of controversial comments allegedly made by Senator Francis Fadahunsi ahead of the Osun State governorship election.

In an interview on Arise TV monitored by The News Chronicle, Morka said it was not the responsibility of individuals to interpret or “second-guess” the senator’s remarks, stressing that the police had already invited him to explain what he meant.

It is not for any of us to be second-guessing what was said or not said; that is the job of the police. He has been invited to explain his comments, and we must wait for the police to do their jobs and properly put his statements in context,” Morka said.

The controversy erupted after Afrobeats star Davido, an indigene of Osun State, on Tuesday, August 11, shared a video purportedly showing Fadahunsi addressing APC supporters ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Davido, while sharing the video, quoted the senator, who spoke in Yoruba, as allegedly directing supporters to attack members of the Accord Party.

According to the quotation attributed to Fadahunsi: “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too. This is a Federal Government election. On election day, even if they come with voters card, we won’t allow them to vote.”

The alleged remarks have sparked outrage, with concerns raised over their implications for the conduct of the August 15 election and the safety of political parties and their supporters.

However, Morka urged restraint, insisting that the police investigation should be allowed to establish exactly what was said and the context in which it was made.

The development comes as political parties intensify campaigns and mobilisation across Osun ahead of Saturday’s keenly contested governorship election.
