The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, has accused the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of failing to do enough to drive development and strengthen the state’s economy.
Oyebamiji made the allegation during the ARISE 2026 Governorship Election Town Hall monitored by The News Chronicle, where he criticised the government’s performance and claimed that residents were eager for a change in leadership.
The APC candidate said he had toured all 31 local government areas in the state three times during his campaign, adding that his interactions with residents revealed widespread dissatisfaction with the administration.
“Everybody responded and said that yes, we need to take this government. This government that is doing nothing to promote and to enhance both the development and the economic sector of our state,” he said.
Oyebamiji said his consultations were not limited to APC members, but also included traditional and community leaders, artisans, civil servants and other residents.
According to him, the consultations reinforced his belief that Osun residents were prepared to vote for a new government.
“By the special grace of God, I’m coming in as a governor of Osun, come August 15, 2026,” he declared.
The APC candidate also questioned the management of the state’s revenue under the Adeleke administration, alleging that the government had received about N650 billion in revenue over three and a half years.
“For these three and a half years of this government, they have collected, the government collected N650 billion. How can you match N650 billion to what is happening in Osun today?” Oyebamiji asked.
He described the situation as “an aberration” and promised to adopt a different approach if elected governor.
Oyebamiji also pledged to run an inclusive administration, promising that government resources and development projects would reach communities across the state.
“I’m going to run an inclusive government and I’m going to make sure that all my people, cities, towns, villages benefit from my government,” he said.
