Osimhen lauds Amunike after winning Africa Player of the Year Award

Super Eagles and Napoli front man Victor Osimhen rained encomium on Emmanuel Amunike after being crowned the Africa Player of the Year by CAF in Morocco. It was Amunike who guided him and gave him a platform from the U17 level – a memory he deemed neccesary to appreciate the former Super Eagles legend for.

He said, “Good evening ladies and gentlemen. First of all, I want to say thank you God for everything. Special thanks goes to Emmanuel Amunike. Without him, I don’t think I would be standing in front of you guys holding one of the most prestigious awards in world football. It’s a dream come true for me.”

Victor Osihmen beat PSG defender Achraf Hakimi and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah to win the most decorated award in Africa. He became the first Nigeria after 24 years to cling the award.

Asisat Oshoala who had a tremendous career with the Super Falcons and Barcelona Femini this year defended her award – winning her sixth and the most by any African Player.

Paris FC shot stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie wins the unnatural goal keeper of the year award and the Nigeria Super Falcons National team were voted the best team (Women) following their impressive campaign in the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup.
