Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen has arrived in Cairo to join the national team as preparations get more serious for Nigeria’s trip to Fes, Morocco, for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
The last member of the 28 man squad to arrive to camp following club obligations was Osimhen, a Galatasaray player for Turkey. His arrival finished the whole roster as the squad finished its training in Egypt prior to departure.
Two days after the competition starts, on December 23, Nigeria is set to begin its AFCON effort versus Tanzania. Having been stationed in Cairo since the weekend, the Super Eagles recently assessed their readiness in an international friendly against hosts Egypt, which culminated in a tight loss.
Before travel arrangements to Morocco were finalized, The Chronicle gathered that Osimhen was supposed to attend the team’s last practice in Cairo. Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon among other latecomers had already signed the team for prior practices.
The Nigeria Football Federation stated the squad would fly to Fes through a chartered jet for Group C matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. The technical team is certain that the availability of the entire team will help Nigeria’s bid for a great start at the African competition.
