Osimhen Dashes Chelsea’s Hope, Renews Deal With Napoli

Amidst fervent interest by some high ranking European football clubs, Super Eagle football star Victor Osimhen has in principle, renewed his agreement with his current football club, Napoli.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday 13th December 2023 that the workaholic striker will sign a one-year extension to his current deal, taking it to 2026 with a fresh release clause.

Expected to be around €130 million, the release clause would make the 24-year-old footballer the most expensive player in Italy and one of the most expensive in the world if it is sealed.

Romano said; “Napoli reach an agreement in principle with Victor Osimhen on new contract with release clause included! It will be valid until June 2026, one more year. Final value of the clause, TDB — could be around €130m as per Sky. Official announcement expected soon”.

The Super Eagle football sensation’s value is also taken higher by the fact that he just won the 2023 Africa Footballer of the Year Award in recognition of his 2022/23 indelible records.

This development comes as a shocker and a painful blow to top football clubs eyeing to sign the footballer, especially Chelsea who had reportedly indicated solid interest to woo Osimhen and seasoned its line-up come January.

Recall that his five-year deal with Napoli was set to expire in the summer of 2025 which aroused the interest of clubs like Chelsea who were looking forward to leverage on the expiration of this deal.
