One Dead, 14 Injured as Hunters’ Vehicle Crashes in Yobe State 

The Yobe Emergency Medical Ambulance Services (YEMABUS) has deployed its rapid response team to the scene of a fatal road traffic accident in Kukareta, Damaturu Local Government Area, rescuing and evacuating 14 injured victims to hospital for treatment.

According to YEMABUS, the crash involved a Volkswagen Golf wagon carrying more than 20 hunters from Jalam in Bauchi State who were travelling to Kukareta for a hunting expedition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by a tyre burst, which was further worsened by overloading of the vehicle.

Emergency responders from YEMABUS arrived promptly at the scene and transported 14 injured persons to the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, where they are receiving medical care. Two of the victims were reported to be in critical condition and are undergoing specialized treatment. One person was confirmed dead at the scene of the accident.

The Executive Secretary of YEMABUS, Dr. Mohammed Lawan Lamusawa, commended the emergency response team for their professionalism and swift intervention in handling the incident.

He noted that the operation reflects YEMABUS’ commitment to providing timely and life-saving emergency medical services to residents and visitors across Yobe State.

“This incident underscores YEMABUS’ commitment to delivering timely, life-saving emergency care to all residents and visitors in Yobe State. Our team’s rapid intervention ensured that the injured received immediate medical attention,” he said.
