One Acre Fund to provide facilities for 65,000 smallholder farmers in Niger

One Acre Fund, a non-profit development organization that assists smallholder farmers in Nigeria by providing them with access to high-quality agricultural inputs, training, and financing, will launch the 2024 input delivery to farmers on Thursday in Bosso Local Government, Niger State.

This was revealed in a statement provided to the TNC in Minna, the capital of Niger state, by Mr. Kazi Nanyah, the spokesperson for One Acre Fund Nigeria.

“This event marks the beginning of our input delivery season, where we will provide over 65,000 smallholder farmers in communities throughout Niger and Kwara States with high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs,” he stated.

The statement goes on to say that representatives from One Acre Fund, government officials, development partners, community leaders, and security agencies will be present at the event. It emphasizes that this will be a chance to demonstrate the organization’s dedication to helping Nigerian farmers and advancing agricultural development.

Since our founding in Nigeria in 2018, One Acre Fund has been dedicated to advancing food security, eradicating hunger, and improving the lives of rural farmers. Kazi Nanyah stated that One Acre Fund is a non-profit development organization that supports smallholder farmers in Nigeria by giving them access to high-quality agricultural inputs, training, and financing.

According to him, “Our last-mile delivery approach ensures that farmers receive the input they need directly at their doorsteps, empowering them to thrive in their farming activities, emphasizing that through our Trees programme, in 2023, we delivered 2.6m trees to 110,000 farmers in Niger state.”

“We are currently establishing decentralized nurseries in Niger, Nasarawa, and Kwara states to provide 6 million trees to 220 thousand farmers this year. We have expanded our operations beyond Niger State to include Kwara and Nasarawa States as part of our ongoing efforts to reach more farmers and increase our effect.”

According to the announcement, this expansion “demonstrates our dedication to assisting agricultural development throughout several states in Nigeria and reaching underserved farming communities.”
