Omotola Jalade’s Daughter Meraiah Announces Engagement

Meraiah Ekeinde, daughter of Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, announced her engagement on Instagram.

She posted a video that opens with an aerial drone shot of a beachfront cityscape before cutting to a close-up of her hand and a pear-shaped engagement ring.

Meraiah kept her partner’s identity hidden throughout the clip. She rubbed his head while angling the camera to keep his face out of view, a choice that drew comments from viewers who asked why she chose not to show him.

Celebrities including Adesua Etomi offered congratulations.

The announcement has not been followed by a wedding date.

On Tuesday, August 11, her mother, Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, revealed her directorial debut, Mother’s Love, earned N103,094,663 at the box office but returned only N22,276,558 to her as producer after deductions.

The film ran in cinemas from March 6, 2026 to April 19, 2026. Omotola said she pulled it from cinemas early because she had to travel for personal matters and could not continue promoting it. She explained: “I knew that I would do the movie a disservice if I left it in the cinemas and I would not have the time to promote it.”

The N22,276,558 came after deductions for exhibitors, distributors, prints and advertising, value added tax, entertainment tax, and withholding tax. Omotola said the full amount went to the educational charity Slum to School Africa. Distribution partner Nile Entertainment transferred the sum on July 7, 2026.

Actress Bolaji Ogunmola responded to the disclosure on X the next day, Wednesday, August 12. She wrote: “That 22 million didn’t even cover premiere cost nor promotion, talk more of the actual film production.”

Her comment pointed to the costs producers carry beyond what distributors and cinemas return to them. One social media user, @AnanaMhiz, wrote that distributors should reconsider their terms, adding: “What is the essence of investing in a project that would put investors in debt?”

Mother’s Love stars Omotola alongside Noray Nehita, Ifeanyi Kalu, Olumide Oworu, Lilian Afegbai, and Nosa Rex. The film follows a young woman navigating independence during her NYSC service year and her mother’s struggle to let her go.
