Two middle-aged men, Segun Shonekan and Rasak Lasisi, both aged 50, were on Tuesday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State over allegations of stealing ten pieces of iron rolling valued at N500,000, said to belong to their employer.
We gathered that the accused persons, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP E. O. Adaraloye, informed the court that the incident occurred in November 2024, around 7:00 p.m., at Veevee Paper Product located along Ijoko Road in Ota.
Adaraloye stated that the defendants jointly conspired and unlawfully took away the iron materials belonging to their employer.
He added that the alleged offences contravene Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
Magistrate O. O. Fadairo granted bail to each of the defendants in the sum of N100,000, with one surety each in the same amount.
Fadairo further directed that the sureties must live within the jurisdiction of the court, possess verifiable employment, and provide evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The matter was adjourned until November 17 for further hearing.
