Ogun Police Nab 30 Suspects, Bust Isara-Remo Initiation Rite, Recover 4 Vehicles

Ogun State Police Command has smashed a suspected cultist initiation procession in Isara-Remo, arresting 30 male suspects and recovering four vehicles during a coordinated tactical operation on Monday, 16th June 2026.

Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, working with detectives from Isara Area Command and Isara Division, stormed an uncompleted building at about 4:00pm following credible intelligence. Police said the group had converged for unlawful meetings, alcohol consumption, chanting, and initiation attempts.

The suspects arrested include Muiz Olawale, Adeniji Akinwale, Ajayi Victor, Damilola Oluwasegun, Adewale Olayemi, Aminu Rahmon, Olodudu Ademola, Matthew Imoleayo, Adenle Habeb, Lekan Qudus, Olamilekan Ayanleke, Adegbasa Ezekiel, Ibukun Adeniyi, Abiodun Babatunde, Oshofolahan Michael, Salau Adedeji, Benjamin Kehinde, Magnus Elijah, Oluwadamilare Samson, Oyebowale Ojutona, Abiodun Makanjuola, Idowu Toheeb, Olamide Sunday, Malik Also, Abdullahi Damilola, Israel Ayomikun, Oyeledun Ezekiel, Adelabu Imoleayo, Ajayi Oluwasegun, and Olaawun Faith.

Four vehicles allegedly abandoned during the escape were recovered at the scene. Exhibits seized include one jack knife, one local drum, one “sekere” rattle, and bottles suspected to have been used for alcohol during the illegal assembly.

All 30 suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Abeokuta, where they are undergoing investigation and will be charged to court on completion. Police say efforts are ongoing to track other fleeing suspects.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the VCRU and Isara operatives for their swift response and professionalism. He described the operation as proof of the Command’s intelligence-led policing and zero tolerance for violent crime.

“Cultism and related criminal activities will not be condoned in any part of the state,” CP Ojajuni warned. “I urge cultists to renounce cultism and criminality before the long arm of the law catches up with them.”

The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious gatherings to the nearest police formation.
