Obidient Movement Co-Founder, Iyere Dumps Obi, Vows to Back New Candidate in 2027

Kennedy Iyere, a prominent figure in the Obidient Movement, has publicly withdrawn his support for Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential bid, signaling a major rift within the Labour Party’s grassroots base.

Speaking in an interview with AriseNews monitored by The News Chronicle on Friday, Iyere revealed that he was instrumental in building the Obidient Movement during the 2023 elections, driven by a shared hunger for accountable leadership.

Iyere accused Obi of ignoring repeated pleas to intervene in the ongoing internal crisis plaguing the Labour Party, claiming his concerns were brushed aside.

Disillusioned, he announced plans to throw his weight behind a new presidential hopeful ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“ Obi is not the only one. I’m ready to galvanize support for someone who actually listens,” Iyere declared.
