Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has declared Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as his preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday monitored by The News Chronicle, Omo-Agege also alleged that supporters of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori are circulating falsehoods about him, claiming it stems from fear of his growing political influence ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.
Reaffirming his loyalty to his new political platform, he maintained that he remains a committed party man, stressing that those attacking him are unsettled by his political weight.
He compared his current stance with his past alignment in the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that he had fully supported President Bola Tinubu during his time in the party, and would extend the same loyalty in his present political home.
“Peter Obi is my presidential candidate for 2027. I have endorsed him,” he said.
“I’m a political animal. When I was in APC, I gave my all. Now I’m in NDC, and you can take it to the bank that my loyalty to the party stands.”
Omo-Agege dismissed claims that he lost the NDC primary, insisting he secured victory.
“If you believe I lost the NDC primary, then I have a plot of land to sell to you. I won the primaries,” he said.
He also took a swipe at what he described as “Sheriff’s e-rats,” alleging they are intimidated by his political influence and worried about his prospects in the coming elections.
