A total of 16 corps members had their service extended because they broke the rules of the program.
The Coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Muhammed, shared this information on a Friday in Katsina during a modest event marking the end of service for the 2023 Batch ‘A’ stream one corps members.
Muhammed revealed that some of the affected corps members received an extension of one month, some for three weeks, and others for two weeks.
On a positive note, three members were recognized for their excellent performance in their Community Development Service (CDS) projects during the year.
Certificates of honor for these achievements were signed by Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State.
During the ceremony, Muhammed reminded the departing corps members not to stay idle but to use the skills they gained through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.
Once again, the Coordinator expressed appreciation to the state government for their hospitality throughout the service year.
She also thanked traditional leaders, security personnel, and the people of the state for ensuring the safety of the Corps Members and their belongings.
Muhammed encouraged the outgoing Corps members to apply the experiences gained during their service year to create positive impacts in their various communities across the country.
She praised them for their patriotic contributions to the development of their host communities in their Places of Primary Assignments (PPAs) and highlighted that there were no negative reports from their PPAs.
The coordinator responsible for overseeing activities in the state issued a cautionary advisory to the members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), strongly advising them against embarking on journeys during the nighttime.
This advisory stems from the prevalent security challenges currently being experienced across the nation.
The coordinator expressed genuine concern for the safety and well-being of the Copers, recognizing the heightened insecurities that the country is currently grappling with.
This directive serves as a proactive measure to mitigate potential risks and ensure that Copers are safeguarded from any untoward incidents that may arise during nocturnal travels in the prevailing security climate.
