NSCDC Deploys 851 Personnel in Anambra for Eid-El-Kabir Celebrations

Ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 851 personnel across the state, with an assurance of a hitch-free Eid-el Duha Sallah celebration.

The Anambra State NSCDC Commandant, Maku Olatunde, disclosed this in a statement signed by the Head, Media and Tactical Ops of the command, SC Edwin Okadigbo and made available to the News Chronicles correspondent in Awka.

The deployment, Maku noted, is designed to bolster security at Eid prayer venues, recreational centres, markets, critical national, state, and local government assets, major roads, motor parks, and other sensitive locations throughout the state before, during, and after the festivities.

According to him, personnel drawn from tactical and specialized units, including the Agro Rangers Squad, Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti-Vandalism Squad, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Disaster Management Unit, have been strategically positioned to uphold public order, safeguard lives and property, deter criminal acts, and provide comprehensive security coverage throughout the holiday period.

“In line with the operational order released for the incident-free celebration, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers are to employ all means of ensuring thorough supervision of personnel deployed, intensify surveillance and visibility patrols across flashpoints within their areas of responsibility, in addition to synergising with sister security agencies in intelligence gathering and information sharing,” Maku said.

The NSCDC State Commandant urged officers and men of the Corps to remain committed, vigilant, and professional, while respecting the fundamental rights of citizens.

He emphasized strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Rules of Engagement (ROE), and Service Orders (SO) in the discharge of their duties.

“Criminal elements, vandals, miscreants, irredentists, unpatriotic citizens, and troublemakers are warned to steer clear of the state, as the Command in collaboration with sister security agencies will not condone any act aimed at undermining the peace currently enjoyed in Anambra State,” he warned.

Commandant Maku expressed his heartfelt Eid felicitations to the Muslim community and called on them to uphold the values of sacrifice, compassion, and harmony.

He also advised the public to obey the law, stay alert, and remain conscious of their security throughout and beyond the festive period, soliciting the cooperation of all residents by reporting suspicious persons, movements, and objects to the nearest NSCDC formation.
