The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has deployed 750 personnel across the state to protect lives, property and critical national assets during the Eid-El Maulud celebration.
The deployment follows the Federal Government’s declaration of Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as a public holiday to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Head of Media and Tactical Operations, SC Okadigbo Edwin, the State Commandant, Commandant Maku Olatunde, said the Corps had activated strategic security measures through an operational order to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration across the state.
According to him, Eid-El Maulud is a period that promotes compassion, humility, service to humanity, unity, tolerance and mutual respect among Nigerians.
“Eid-El Maulud is a season that reminds us of compassion, humility and service to humanity. As a Corps, we are duty-bound to ensure that residents and worshippers observe the celebration in a peaceful atmosphere without fear of a breakdown of law and order,” the commandant said.
Maku said Area Commanders and Divisional Officers had been directed to intensify the deployment of personnel and operational resources to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, including places of worship, markets, motor parks, major road junctions, recreational centres and other public gathering points.
He said the deployment would also focus on preventing vandalism and other criminal activities.
The Command added that its Special Female Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Agro Rangers Unit, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit had been placed on red alert to ensure a rapid response to emerging security threats.

Maku urged residents of Anambra State to remain vigilant and cooperate with the NSCDC and other security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities in their communities.
He also advised Muslim faithful to celebrate responsibly and use the occasion to pray for peace, unity and the continued progress of Nigeria.
