NPFL Side Sporting Lagos Cut Ties with Head Coach
Paul Offor

The Lagos-based Nigeria Professional Football League side, Sporting Lagos Football Club, has announced the sacking of their head coach, Paul Offor, following a poor campaign in the NPFL.

On behalf of everyone at Sporting Lagos, the Club would like to express its gratitude to Coach Paul for his efforts and achievements during his time with the Club.”

Paul guided the team to their first-ever top-flight promotion, having competed in the Nigeria National League (second tier) the same year the club was created (2022).

He guided the team to their first-ever Silverware (Naija Super 8) last year, triumphing over Elite clubs like Eyimba, Rivers United, Katina United, etc., in Lagos to lift the coveted award.

While the team appreciates coach Paul’s resilience with the team, it also noted that his assistance will be departing from the club:

Thank you, Coach Paul. After reviewing our performance so far this season, the Club believes it is the right time to make a change.

Coach Paul will leave with his assistant coaches, Coach Micah Bello, and Coach Edward Green. We are grateful for their time at Sporting Lagos.”

Tipped to be one of the surprises of the season in the NPFL, Sporting has not measured up to the standard.

Despite starting their campaign solidly, they sit at the 11th place and are currently 4 points adrift of relegation.
