An Abuja Federal High Court, on Tuesday November 19, 2013, played host to leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) splinter group known as the New PDP.

The leaders of the group approached the Federal High Court to challenge the suspension of their members from the PDP

In a suit filed by the nPDP’s Chairman, Abubakar Baraje; Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Dr. Sam Jaja, and Alhaji Ibrahim Kazaure, through their lawyer, Chief Awa Kalu, SAN, the group is asking the Federal High Court to overrule their suspension, adding that the suspension was done in bad faith.

The Plaintiffs are pleading with the Court to consult the principles of fair hearing in the 1999 Constitution and hold their suspension as a negation of the stated constitution.

The defendants of the suit are the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It would be recalled that the People’s Democratic Party, on November 11, 2013, announced the suspension of some leading members of the parallel PDP group.
