Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed, a respected public affairs commentator and elder statesman, has voiced serious concern over the worsening security situation in northern Nigeria, especially following a new wave of targeted killings in Benue State.
Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly known as Twitter), Baba Ahmed strongly condemned the ongoing violence in the region and called on political leaders to show real commitment and come up with fresh strategies to bring the bloodshed to an end.
Speaking about the insecurity and recent killings in Benue, he said, “Targeted killings in Benue and Borno today and the daily bloodshed in many parts of the North remind us of the urgent need to prioritise security.”
He added, “We should never accept this madness as the new normal. It can be stopped with political will and new approaches.”
Baba Ahmed’s comments reflect the growing frustration among many Nigerians over the persistent violence and the perceived lack of effective response from authorities.
