The Arewa Movement for Good Governance (AM2G) recently voiced concerns about the state of governance, especially within the National Assembly.
They worry that the government is not working as it should and that democracy in Nigeria is facing serious problems.
Usman Bugaje, the Convener of AM2G, spoke at a press conference in Kaduna. He quoted Edward Snowden, a famous whistleblower, to highlight the idea that revealing wrongdoing shouldn’t be punished.
Bugaje believes that Nigeria is being ruled by people who might not have the country’s best interests at heart.
Bugaje mentioned recent events in the National Assembly, like the suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi and the removal of Senator Kawu Sumaila from their position.
These actions, according to Bugaje, show that something is not right within the National Assembly and that Nigeria as a country is struggling.
Bugaje, who used to be a member of the House of Representatives, pointed out that the government has failed in its duty to protect and take care of its citizens, as promised in the constitution.
He also criticized attempts to stop people from talking openly about issues, like the recent incident where senators’ microphones were turned off during debates.
Bugaje believes that ordinary Nigerians are the ones suffering the most from this situation.
They are poor and often ignored by those in power, with little hope for a better life. AM2G wants Nigerians to speak up and demand that their leaders be accountable for their actions. They see this as a crucial step in addressing the serious problems facing the country.
