Northern governors contribute N180 million to support victims of Kaduna airstrike

The Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) has donated N180 million to help the Kaduna State government and the people affected by the recent bombing in Tudun Biri community. This commitment was made after their first meeting in Kaduna on Friday.

The forum, expressing deep sympathy for the people of Kaduna, strongly condemned the tragic incident that led to the loss of over 100 lives and left many others injured.

In a show of solidarity, they pledged to provide both immediate financial assistance and long-term support.

“The forum has decided to assist the Kaduna State Government and victims of the unfortunate bombing incident in Tudun Biri Community of Igabi LGA by donating the sum of N180,000,000.00 only to the victims,” stated the Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.

In addition to this relief effort, the forum outlined a comprehensive plan to address significant challenges affecting the North.

This plan encompasses various aspects, including promoting peaceful coexistence, fostering economic development, tackling youth unemployment, combating drug abuse, and revitalizing education.

Their agenda is ambitious, aiming to enhance the lives of millions of citizens in the region. While acknowledging recent federal government efforts in combating insecurity, the forum pledged to collaborate further.

They emphasized the importance of close cooperation with security agencies, strengthening local law enforcement, engaging with communities, and utilizing modern technology to address the complex issue of regional insecurity.

Furthermore, the forum underscored the need to tackle the root causes of insecurity, namely poverty, unemployment, and increasing social inequality.

Recognizing the environmental challenges faced by Northern Nigeria, particularly the conflict between farmers and herders, they committed to working towards sustainable solutions.

These solutions aim to safeguard livelihoods, promote peaceful coexistence, and contribute to overall regional stability.

the Northern Governors’ Forum not only expressed condolences and provided immediate financial aid but also laid out a comprehensive and ambitious plan to address multifaceted challenges in the North, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being and security of the region’s citizens.
