Nollywood Star Reveals Reasons Actors Seek Financial Assistance

Nollywood sensation and renowned movie director, Daniel Etim Effiong has revealed that the culture of letting a man take care of his business as opposed to getting any assistance from the female counterpart has been majorly responsible for the high rate of financial assistance being sought by most Nollywood actors.

The Kaduna State born indigene of Akwa Ibom State maintained that in most traditional societies, man’s money is perceived as being for the entire family, women’s financial resources are often seen as personal.

The actor who disclosed this during a recent appearance on the Bahd And Boujee Podcast, anchored by actress Moet Abebe and reality star Tolanibaj, added that men have to sort themselves out because largely women are not going to rise up to solve the problem for men.

“And when a man reaches a point where he can not solve his problems, he is not going to go to a woman, he is going to go to the world and be like, ‘Guys, I’ve reached my limit. I cannot help myself, come help me.’’

While responding to Moet’s question about why male actors are more likely to seek crowdfunding, Effiong said that traditionally, women have been mainly the responsibility men.

Recall that Nollywood actors ranging from John Okafor, Hanks Anuku, Amaechi Muonagor, Margret Olayinka, Fatai Adetayo, among others, have flooded the social media space with messages in need of financial assistance to attend to their health challenges.
