NOA Rallies Anambra Community Leaders Against Destructive Youthful Activities

A one-day campaign programme on youth restiveness, moral decadence and insecurity put together by the National Orientation Agency, (NOA), Anambra State Directorate, has ended with a call on the critical community leaders and stakeholders to join forces with the government in the aggressive fight against negative youthful activities.

The programme was organized for leaders and stakeholders of Nnobi community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State in Nnobi.

Addressing the assemblage, the State NOA Director, Barr. Lady Ifeoma Chijioke, acknowledged the spate of youth restiveness and deteriorating moral decadence across communities in the country, which she noted had given rise to insecurity.

She regretted that many adolescent youths no longer find fulfillment in productive ventures, rather, they are now engaged in destructive ventures, adding that the development poses a grave challenge for the future of the nation.

Lady Chijioke explained that the programme was to educate the community leaders on how to begin to engage the youths positively, so that they can refrain from such destructive ventures.

Our youths now involve themselves in destructive activities and to tackle these challenges head on, we need institutional collaboration with critical community leaders and stakeholders in the community.

“It is against this background, that the Anambra State Directorate of NOA, organized this campaign against youth restiveness, moral decadence and insecurity for people of Nnobi community and beyond.

“This programme also justified by the fact that the national values charter will restore the mutual relationship between the government and the citizens,” she said.

The Anambra NOA boss advised Nigerian youths to work towards imbibing acceptable societal and national core values with a view to avoiding the dangerous effects of the negative vices that are destroying youths today.

Barrister Chijioke, further maintained that the general objective of the programme was to sensitize the general public on the inherent dangers of moral decadence and youth restiveness in society, and to reinforce the adoption of the National Ethics as the solution to the deteriorating moral decadence and youth restiveness in Nigeria.

“This programme affords us the opportunity to collaborate with critical community leaders in this community to constructively engage the youths meaningfully.

The State Director had on arrival, paid a courtesy visit on the Traditional Ruler of Nnobi Community, Igwe Nick Obi in his palace, where she solicited the assistance of the community in building functional skill acquisition centers to gainfully engage the youth towards self-sustainability.

In his response, Igwe Obi commended the leadership of NOA for the very important message of the programme, describing it as very apt, especially now the country is battling with a lot of challenges.

The Royal Father enjoined leadership of the Agency to further work towards reaching out to the womenfolk of not only the community, but the entire Anambra state, for greater impact.

On his own part, the President General of the Community, Chief Alloy Olubualo, assured NOA of robust collaboration to deepen the message of the programme in the area.

An illustrious son of the community, Chief. C. J. Nwosu blamed some parents for the increase in moral decadence in Nigeria today, emphasizing that the grooming of the child to be a better citizen must begin from the cradle at home.
