No face mask, no work- Anambra HOS to workers

Public servants in Anambra state have been mandated to provide face masks for themselves or risk sanctions from the government.

The State Head of Service disclosed in an exclusive interview with TNC in Awka.

The initiative is in line with the State Government’s directive to Anambra citizens to ensure that they always make use of face mask each time they need to leave their homes.

Udu said wearing of face mask was one of the preconditions for entry into any government office, noting that public servants were asked to get it as part of their contribution towards the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

According to him, the government has outlined a series of measures to be put in place before the resumption of work to ensure the safety of every Anambra worker.
On whether the government has given any specific date for reopening of government offices in the state, the HOS made it clear that only the governor of the state has the prerogative to make such declaration after due consultations with the appropriate quarters.

Udu further revealed that all political appointees have been charged to procure and made available at least two hundred pieces of face masks each to their various communities, adding that the target is for every individual in the state to have at least one face mask.

“At our level, we have been mandated to make available 200 pieces of face masks to our communities. Government is serious about it. Every appointee must provide it for their people. It is a must.

‘All public servants are advised to provide face masks for themselves in preparation for the expected reopening of offices and resumption of work. Please circulate and ensure compliance. Stay safe,” Udu charged
