The Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency (EBS-EMA) has confirmed that no life was lost in Tuesday night’s flood disaster in Akaeze Community, Ivo Local Government Area of the state.
The agency’s Executive Director, Clement Ovuoba, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on Friday.
Ovuoba said EBS-EMA had commenced an assessment of the damage and was considering the evacuation of residents affected by the flood.
“We have visited the area affected by the flood at Akaeze to ascertain the level of impact.
“Yes, I can confirm that no life was lost in the incident,” he said.
According to him, several houses were submerged, while domestic animals and farmlands were washed away by the flood.

He said the heavy downpour occurred at night when most residents had gone to bed.
Ovuoba added that the agency had submitted a recommendation to Gov. Francis Nwifuru the provide relief materials to the affected residents.
NAN reports that more than 134 houses, as well as farmlands and livestock, were destroyed by the heavy rainfall on Tuesday night.
