NNPP raises alarm over impersonation

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has expressed concerns about former members falsely claiming to still be part of the party.

Following a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja on Thursday, the party revealed that these individuals, who were expelled in accordance with the party’s constitution, persist in portraying themselves as leaders.

The party emphasized that a court order prohibits these expelled members from representing themselves as leaders of NNPP, and they have not contested or attempted to overturn this order.

The NNPP stated that the ongoing actions of these individuals amount to contempt of court, a serious offense under the laws of the country.

Despite the court order being served to them and shared with media outlets, some media houses inadvertently contribute to this violation.

The NNPP appealed to the media to refrain from inadvertently supporting these expelled members in defying a valid court order.

The party pointed out that the renegade group, no longer affiliated with NNPP as confirmed by a court judgment, has faced setbacks in their legal endeavors against NNPP.

The courts have consistently directed them to reconcile with their authentic party leadership.

While the NNPP has tried to avoid distraction from these activities, concerns raised by well-meaning Nigerians prompted the party to address the issue.

The NNPP urged Nigerians to disregard this group, describing them as mere political adventurers and opportunists engaged in an illegal and unprofitable venture.

In a press conference, the NNPP advised the public to be cautious of the renegade group and avoid engaging in any business with them on behalf of NNPP, as doing so would violate the law.

The party emphasized that these individuals have no legal standing within NNPP and encouraged the public to be aware of the situation.
