NIS nabs 22 for human trafficking in Borno

The Nigeria Immigration Services caught 22 people for human trafficking, including 16 foreigners, on the Maiduguri/Gomboru Ngala highway in Borno State.

The head of the NIS Borno State Command, Abba Abdullahi Salihu, explained in a statement that they were arrested during a routine check along the Gamboru Ngala road while they were on their way for illegal activities.

According to Salihu, the leader of the group was a man, and the others were women aged between 20 and 35.

He mentioned, “Our officers nabbed the group at the Gamboru Ngala checkpoint when we realized they didn’t have all the necessary documents for traveling. The male leader admitted to taking the women to Cameroon for illegal activities.”

He added that after completing their investigation, they would hand the suspects over to the appropriate authorities for further action.

“We are going to hand them over to the authority concerned for necessary actions after our investigation is completed.”

Salihu also advised parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children’s movements.
