NiMet Scores 82.65% in ICPC’s 2025 Ethics and Integrity Assessment

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has recorded a strong performance in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), scoring 82.65 percent.

The assessment, carried out between 19 May and 20 June 2025, placed NiMet in the “Substantial Compliance” category and ranked the Agency 10th out of 344 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) evaluated nationwide.

The result was formally conveyed to the Agency in a letter dated 29 December 2025.

In a related assessment, NiMet also ranked 11th out of 356 MDAs on the ACTU Effectiveness Index (AEI), scoring 82.50 percent.

This performance earned the Agency a “Very Effective” rating for its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), reflecting the unit’s effectiveness in promoting ethical standards and transparency within the organisation.

The EICS evaluation examined key governance and operational pillars, including management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative systems, and the effectiveness of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units. The outcome affirms the robustness of NiMet’s compliance framework, governance mechanisms and internal control systems.

In the letter signed by the Chairman of ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, the Agency was commended for the structures and processes it has put in place to promote efficiency and integrity in public service.

The Commission also encouraged NiMet’s management to sustain the standards achieved in order to ensure consistency in future ratings and continuous improvement in service delivery.

NiMet reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of its statutory mandate, noting that it will continue to strengthen its institutional processes in line with national integrity standards and best practices.
