The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a mix of haze, sunshine, and isolated thunderstorms across the country from Wednesday to Friday.
In its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet forecast sunny and hazy skies across the northern region for the period. The central region is also expected to experience predominantly sunny and hazy conditions.
For the southern region, the agency projected sunny skies with patches of cloud cover. However, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall are expected over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later in the day on Wednesday.
On Thursday, NiMet said sunny and hazy conditions would persist over the northern and central regions, while the south would experience sunny skies with cloud patches.
Morning thunderstorms with light rain are expected over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states, with more thunderstorms anticipated later in the day across Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa.
By Friday, sunny and hazy skies are expected in the northern region during the morning, with dust haze likely to intensify in the afternoon and evening.
The central region will maintain sunny and hazy conditions, while the southern region is forecast to be cloudy with sunny intervals in the morning and isolated thunderstorms with light rain over parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers.
NiMet also warned that dust particles are currently in suspension over the North-Central region and advised people with asthma and other respiratory conditions to take necessary precautions due to the prevailing weather conditions.
