The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast dust haze and thunderstorms across different parts of the country from Thursday to Saturday.
In its weather outlook released on Wednesday via X, NiMet predicted slight dust haze on Thursday over parts of Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Yelwa, Katsina, Kano, Bauchi and Gombe states in the northern region.
It also added that Borno, Yobe, Kaduna and Taraba states are expected to experience sunny and hazy conditions throughout the forecast period.
For the North Central region, the agency anticipated generally sunny and hazy skies, with slight dust haze expected over parts of Nasarawa and Plateau states.
In the southern region, NiMet forecast sunny skies with a few patches of cloud. It noted the likelihood of morning thunderstorms and light rainfall over Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Bayelsa states, while later in the day, thunderstorms accompanied by light rains are expected over parts of Bayelsa, Lagos, Cross River, Ogun, Ondo, Abia, Imo, Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom states.
According to the agency, sunny and hazy conditions will persist across the northern and North Central regions on Friday.
In the south, sunny skies with few clouds are expected, alongside chances of afternoon or evening thunderstorms and light rains over Bayelsa, Cross River, Imo, Abia, Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom states.
NiMet also predicted similar weather conditions on Saturday, with sunny and hazy skies over the northern and North Central regions.
In the southern part of the country, sunny conditions with patches of cloud are anticipated, with possible afternoon or evening thunderstorms and light rainfall over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
The agency warned that dust particles remain in suspension and advised members of the public, especially those with asthma and other respiratory conditions, to take necessary precautions.
Motorists were urged to drive carefully during rainfall, while airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning.
