NiMet forecasts a three-day period of dust haze followed by sunshine starting from Monday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast indicating the prevalence of dust haze across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

In the North and North Central regions, there is an expectation of slight dust haze throughout this period.

The Inland areas of the South and coastal cities, on the other hand, are likely to experience moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km.

NiMet also anticipates slim chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa States in the afternoon and evening hours.

Moving on to Tuesday, a sunny and hazy atmosphere is forecasted for the North and North Central regions.

Similar to Monday, the Inland areas of the South and coastal cities are expected to have moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility in the 2km to 5km range.

There are also prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta States during the afternoon and evening.

As for Wednesday, NiMet predicts a continuation of a sunny and hazy atmosphere over the North and North Central region.

In the inland areas of the South, there will be moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km.

Along the coastal belt, a few clouds in a hazy atmosphere are expected throughout the forecast period.

NiMet emphasizes the suspension of dust particles in the air, urging the public to take necessary precautions.

Individuals with asthma and respiratory issues are advised to be cautious given the prevailing weather conditions.

In addition, it is advisable for airline operators to consistently monitor weather updates provided by NiMet.

This practice is crucial in enabling effective planning for their operational activities, ensuring that they are well-prepared and can make informed decisions based on the latest meteorological information.
