NIMC Self-service App Safe and Secure – Developers

Barnksforte Technology Ltd, an indigenous technology company, has reaffirmed its commitment to the security of the self-service application launched by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Nigeria.

Mr. Dayo Bankole, the Chief Executive Officer of Barnksforte Technology Ltd, addressed concerns raised about the safety of the recently launched NIMC app.

He assured Nigerians that robust security measures had been implemented to ensure the application’s integrity, making it highly resistant to security breaches.

The self-service mobile application represents a significant leap in the digitalization of biometric enrollment and was developed in collaboration with NIMC by Barnksforte Technologies Ltd.

Mr. Bankole expressed disappointment over unfounded claims that the application could compromise Nigeria’s database, emphasizing that the NIMC director-general, with extensive expertise, was leading the project.

He criticized those responsible for spreading negative reports, highlighting that the application was just one component of a comprehensive system. Bankole stressed the existence of a robust backend technology that meticulously verifies applicant information.

Moreover, Mr. Bankole revealed that NIMC was working closely with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and local technical partners to facilitate enrollment for Nigerians in the diaspora. Diasporans are required to provide their international passport numbers to apply. All data collected through the application is securely transmitted to the NIMC database.

Regarding the enrollment process, Bankole assured that it is seamless after downloading the app from either the Google Play Store or iOS platforms. He underlined that, for those with a National Identification Number (NIN), it is the key to accessing self-service enrollment, marking a significant advancement in Nigeria’s technological landscape.
