President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has assured Nigerians that the federal government is committed to ending insecurity and killings across the country.
Speaking on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television monitored by The news Chronicle, Bwala reacted to the recent attack in Esiele community, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where gunmen reportedly invaded a primary school and abducted teachers and pupils.
According to him, while insecurity remains a challenge globally, the government is working with citizens and security agencies to put an end to violent attacks through intelligence gathering and collective efforts.
Bwala also stated that Nigerians have the constitutional right to defend themselves against attackers, particularly in life-threatening situations at home.
He explained that citizens can lawfully protect themselves using necessary force, while stressing that the possession of certain weapons remains subject to government approval.
The presidential aide further alleged that insecurity often rises during election periods, claiming that some individuals exploit crises for political and economic gains.
He, however, expressed confidence that Nigerians, through unity and cooperation with security agencies, would overcome the challenge.
