Nigerian Youths Are My Children -Atiku Responds to Age Concerns Ahead of 2027

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed concerns that his age could affect his ability to connect with young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the country’s youth remain central to his political ambition.

Atiku made the remarks during an interview aired on Arise News, shortly after emerging as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Responding to concerns raised by a journalist over whether younger voters would still identify with him due to his age, the former Vice President said he still enjoys a strong relationship with Nigerian youths.

According to him, young Nigerians are like his children, stressing that his decision to contest in the 2027 election is partly driven by a desire to secure a better future for them.

“How will I not resonate with the Nigerian youths? They are my children. I am doing it because of them,” Atiku said.

He maintained that he understands the challenges confronting young Nigerians and believes he still has an important role to play in shaping the nation’s future.

Meanwhile, Atiku has also stated that it is not yet time for celebration following his emergence as the ADC presidential flagbearer for the 2027 election.

In a post shared on X, the former Vice President urged supporters to remain focused, signaling that more work lies ahead despite securing the party’s ticket.
