Jay Boogie, a Nigerian transgender, had before sought help from Nigerians due to complications from a bum surgery. He claimed to have kidney issues and needed financial assistance for medical procedures.
Following the plea on social media, a concerned person organized a GoFundMe account for Jay’s treatment. However, concerns began rising about the authenticity of Jay Boogie’s medical condition, with accusations of scamming Nigerians for donations.
Eventually, the person who organized a GoFundMe account for Jay’s treatment expressed doubts and mentioned the lack of transparency regarding medical information.
In response to the controversy, Jay Boogie defended himself, stating that he had other health issues. However, he apologized for any perception of a scam and expressed gratitude to those who supported him, emphasizing that he wouldn’t be alive without their help.
Note that Jay Boogie, 25, was originally a male at birth with the name Daniel Nsikan.
According to him, he identified as female since childhood, even wearing a bra to school in primary four. While he acknowledged that his buttocks were enhanced through surgery, he said the growth of his busts was due to his hormones.
As of now, Nigeria does not legally recognize individuals who have undergone gender transition (transgender).
