Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with local vigilante members, have killed two suspected ISWAP fighters during an ambush along the Tamsukawu Road behind the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) in Borno State.
According to security analyst, the incident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. on Thursday when the troops encountered the suspected insurgents while conducting operations along the route.
The troops engaged the fighters in a gun battle, killing two of the suspects, while others reportedly fled into the surrounding bush.
Military sources said the operation is part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to deny terrorists freedom of movement in and around Maiduguri and strengthen security across the area.
