Nigerian Minister Threatens To Sue United Nations Over Alleged Financial Mismanagement

—

Women Affairs Minister, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, issued a stern warning to the United Nations (UN) during a press conference held on Monday, September 16.

Nigeria Receives A $19.5 Billion Investment Pledge At The UNGA

The minister alleged that the UN had been mishandling funds collected on behalf of Nigerians from various donors.

“I stand here as the minister of women affairs to demand accountability from the UN regarding the monies they have sourced from donors in Nigeria’s name,” Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye asserted. “We want to see a transparent account of how these funds were utilized. If the UN does not provide this account, or at least share the information with Nigerians, they must issue an apology.”

The minister did not mince words, stating, “If we do not receive a satisfactory report by November 15, we will not hesitate to take legal action against the UN.”

Kennedy-Ohanenye was a presidential aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) but decided to withdraw from the race in favour of Bola Tinubu during the party’s primary elections held in Abuja in preparation for the 2023 elections.
