432

As the world celebrates Christmas some Nigerian clergymen- Dr Mike Okonkwo (the presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, TREM), Most Reverend Ephraim Ademowo (Dean Emeritus of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion) and the Christian Association of Nigeria have called on Nigerians to be peaceful, law abiding and thankful in the spirit of the season.

The Christian body, CAN states that Christmas is a time for redemption. And as such good deeds should be used to mark the period. It also encourages all faithful Christians to use the time to celebrate God.

Bishop Okonkwo on his own part admonishes Christians to not only celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ but also to emulate his excellent virtues most especially love and peace.

In his own message, Most Reverend Ephraim Ademowo exhorts Christians to consider the spiritual significance of Christmas for within the spirituality of Christmas lies its essence. He also called on Nigerians to be peaceful in the spirit of the season.

The central theme of the message of the clergymen and CAN is peace.
