Nigerian Artist Fola David Sets New World Record for Largest Drawing

Nigerian doctor and hyper-realism artist Fola David has broken the Guinness World Record for the largest drawing by an individual.

Based in Lagos, David aimed to create a 1000 square meter artwork showcasing Nigeria’s diverse cultures. He started his six-day project on July 16 at Onikan Stadium.

In a post on social media on Friday night, he announced: “Congratulations to us all. On Day 4 at 9 pm, we broke the current record of 629.98 square meters, but we are not done! Our goal is to cover over 1000 square meters with drawings; we are currently at 689 square meters. Let’s go!”

Several notable Nigerians visited David during his attempt, including Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Nigerian Artist Fola David Sets New World Record for Largest Drawing former record holder Hilda Baci; and businessman Farooq Oreagba, known for his appearance at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival.

The College of Medicine at the University of Lagos, where David studied, also visited to show their support.
