The Nigerian Army has charged the 274 officers sitting for the 2026 Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE) to demonstrate confidence, focus and integrity throughout the exercise.
The charge was given by the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) and President of the SSCQE 2026, Major General Peter Malla, during an address to Directing Staff and candidates at the Ihejirika Auditorium, Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna State, on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
Malla said the examination was crucial to the career progression of the participating officers and a major requirement for admission into the Senior Command and Staff Course.

He noted that the ongoing transformation of the Nigerian Army under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, particularly in professional military education, had raised expectations for the candidates.
According to him, the Army expects nothing short of a 100 percent pass rate from the 274 candidates taking part in the examination.
The examination president explained that the week-long exercise is being conducted in line with the approved Nigerian Army syllabus, with emphasis on subjects designed to strengthen military leadership capabilities among the candidates.
He also directed members of the Directing Staff to maintain objectivity and professionalism in assessing the candidates while strictly adhering to the rules and regulations governing the examination.
Malla urged the candidates to maintain discipline and uphold the core values of the Nigerian Army, assuring them of an objective, transparent and accountable assessment process.
He warned that any form of examination malpractice would lead to disqualification and possible prosecution in accordance with the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations (Revised) 2022 and the Armed Forces Act, CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The TRADOC NA Commander further disclosed that the Chief of Army Staff would continue the practice of rewarding outstanding performance, with Certificates of Excellence, Letters of Commendation and cash gifts to be presented to the first, second and third-best overall candidates.
He added that officers who emerge as the best performers in individual subjects would also be rewarded.
The initiative, he said, is in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy of rewarding excellence while sanctioning incompetence.
Earlier, the Commander, Infantry Corps, Major General Godwin Mutkut, welcomed the candidates to Jaji and assured them that all necessary arrangements had been put in place for a smooth five-day examination exercise.
The event was attended by senior officers from Army Headquarters and various formations of the Nigerian Army.
