Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered a command-wire improvised explosive device (IED) buried along a road in Kanguri village, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State, preventing what could have been another deadly terrorist attack.
According to Security sources that the explosive device was discovered at about 3:00 p.m. on July 24 by troops of the 149 Battalion while escorting a team from the Mine Risk Group (MRG), Maiduguri.
The escort team was on a mission to recover two trucks that were damaged in an earlier IED explosion allegedly planted by Boko Haram terrorists on July 4.
During the operation, the troops detected the command-wire IED concealed beneath the road in Kanguri village. The timely discovery prevented potential casualties and ensured the safety of the recovery mission.
