Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have discovered and safely detonated a suspected new-type Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted along the Dikwa–Marte road in Borno State.
According to military sources, the device differed from conventional roadside bombs as it was left exposed on the surface and fitted with a handle-like attachment intended to entice unsuspecting victims into picking it up before detonation.
The explosive device was detected and successfully neutralized by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts without any casualties, on Friday.
The operation underscores the military’s growing effectiveness in counter IED efforts and ongoing operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities across the North East region.
Security sources noted that the discovery highlights the evolving tactics employed by insurgents and the need for continued vigilance by both troops and civilians using major roads in the region
