Nigerian Army arrest bandit warlord in Zamfara

The Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji successfully apprehended a notorious bandit warlord, Usman Abubakar, widely known as Harinde, in Zamfara State.

The 35-year-old bandit leader was captured on Thursday in Shinkafi based on intelligence reports.

Harinde, a native of Kukatara village in Shinkafi LGA, served as the leader of the bandits’ camp in the same village and operated under the command of the infamous bandit warlord and gunrunner, Kachalla Halilu Sububu, known for his activities across West African countries.

Usman Harinde, the arrested suspect, has been linked to numerous criminal activities, including hundreds of attacks, kidnappings, cattle rustling, and other illicit acts in the Shinkafi axis, Boko-Faru-Janbako in Zurmi LGA, and various villages in Sokoto State, as reported by the task force.

The troops recovered various items from the apprehended bandit leader, including cash, charms, and a military uniform.

This successful operation follows the recent arrest of another notorious kingpin who had been terrorizing Tsafe west in Tsafe LGA.

The apprehended kingpin confessed to the killing of two Mobile Police operatives in the area.

The ongoing endeavors of law enforcement seek to mitigate the rising instances of criminal activities, aiming to bolster the overall security conditions within the region.

These concerted efforts are directed towards curbing the escalating levels of unlawful behavior, ultimately contributing to a safer and more secure environment for the residents.
