Nigerian Armed forces in 3-day mourning to honour fallen soldiers

The Nigerian Armed Forces is very sad because seventeen soldiers were killed by angry young people in Okuama, Delta State.

Among the soldiers who died are important people like Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi Hassan Ali, who was in charge of the 181 Amphibious Battalion, Major Gembu Shafa, who was the JTF Commander in Bomadi, and also another Major and a Captain.

To show how sad they are, the military will put all their flags halfway down for three days. This is to honor the soldiers who died.

The order to do this came from General Christopher Musa, who is the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). It applies to all parts of the military – the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Starting from March 18th, 2024, until March 20th, 2024, all flags will be halfway down. This is a tradition to show respect and how deeply sorry everyone is for the soldiers who died.
