Nigerian Air Force Airstrikes Target Terrorist Hideouts in Kastina and Borno

—

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) High Command disclosed that series of airstrikes conducted over the weekend was part of ongoing efforts to combat insurgency in the country.

In a statement released by Air Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information of the Service, detailed accounts of the operations were provided.

Under Operation Hadarin Daji, an airstrike on April 5 targeted a terrorist enclave near Yartsamiya Village in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The strike was prompted by intelligence indicating the movement of 11 armed terrorists towards a mountainous area, where they were joined by additional groups heading in the same direction.

Recognizing the opportunity to neutralize the threat, NAF aircraft engaged the terrorists, resulting in several casualties and scattering of survivors.

Similarly, airstrikes were carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on April 6 in Grazah, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Grazah, previously known as a terrorist hideout, had been repurposed as a logistics storage hub and a site for manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other ammunition.

Recent intelligence indicated ongoing terrorist activities in makeshift structures at the location.

As a result, air interdiction operations were conducted, leading to the neutralization of several terrorists.

The statement emphasized the importance of these operations, conducted deep within terrorist enclaves, to disrupt their recruitment, training, and logistical support networks.

Targeting terrorist logistics hubs not only reduces their capacity for large-scale attacks on civilians and military installations but also disrupts their overall operations.

The public was urged to provide information on terrorist activities to aid ongoing operations.

In essence, the airstrikes represent a concerted effort by the Nigerian Air Force to degrade terrorist capabilities and enhance security across affected regions, underscoring the ongoing commitment to combating insurgency in the country.
