Nigeria super eagles failed to consolidate on their leadership in Group F stage of world cup qualifiers on Wednesday as the Brave Warriors of Namibia hold the Super Eagles to 1-1 in their second leg fixture of the World Cup qualifying in Windhoek, Namibia.
The 2-2 draw between the second Group F, Malawi and Kenya earlier in the day gave Nigeria more momentum to beat Namibia. But it was not to be as the Eagles failed to take their chances despite having several opportunities to fully win their host right from the first half.
The confident Brave Warriors of Namibia scored the first goal by Deon Hotto Kavendji about 77 minutes into the game but Godfrey Oboabona of the super eagle’s team scored a goal which now qualifies the super eagles to play for the next group game.
Nigeria and Malawi, who are just two points apart, will tussle for the qualification ticket during their battle in the last group games in August.
Nigeria tops the group with nine points followed by Malawi with seven points while Namibia is third with five points and Kenya last on three points.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will leave for Brazil today (Thursday) for the FIFA Confederation Cup which starts on Saturday. The team will face Tahiti in their Group B game on Monday. Spain and Uruguay are the other teams in the group.
at least, half bread is better than noon. I believe the eagles can make it to the world cup tournament and even go far beyond our expectations in the tournament. goooooooooooo!!! flying Eagles.
