The Federal Government has unveiled a major digital skills drive after signing a partnership with Coursera to launch the Digital Training Academy during the Education World Forum 2026.
The initiative will give 36,000 Nigerian youths fully funded access to courses in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, and other high-demand fields. Participants will earn globally recognised certifications valued by employers worldwide.
The first-year rollout is funded under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and covers licences on both Coursera and Pluralsight. Officials say it’s one of the largest government-backed digital skills investments in Nigeria’s history.
The programme will run with the National Open University of Nigeria and Yaba College of Technology, pairing nationwide access with industry-focused mentorship and support.
“Digital competency is no longer optional. It is foundational. We are building a generation of young Nigerians that can compete, lead and thrive in the global digital economy,” the statement said.
