Niger State Government Pledges Support to Upper Niger River Basin Authority

—

The Niger State Government has committed to supporting the Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority in achieving its goals.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago made this pledge during a meeting on Thursday with the Authority’s Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Usman Dan Gajere, and other officials at the state liaison office in Abuja.

The Governor noted that the state has long sought collaboration with the Authority and has already invested heavily in agro-mechanization, irrigation, and plans for water transportation from Shiroro Dam to Minna.

Governor Bago congratulated the officials on their recent appointments and expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting them with these roles.

On behalf of the Authority, the Managing Director, Shuaibu Bawa Jaja, expressed their condolences to the Niger State Government and its people over the recent explosion that claimed many lives.

He also emphasized their intent to strengthen ties with the state government.

Jaja highlighted the Authority’s dedication to supporting the federal government’s agricultural transformation agenda, which covers Niger, Kaduna, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He commended Governor Bago’s efforts in promoting agricultural development, describing them as both inspiring and promising.

He further assured that the Authority would work diligently in agriculture, dam construction, and maintenance to benefit the people in the areas under its jurisdiction.

Jaja expressed confidence in Niger State’s potential to contribute significantly to feeding the nation.
