American rapper Nicki Minaj has followed the presidential candidate of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, on X shortly after reposting his statement on the reported killings and abductions in Niger State.
A check on the social media platform showed that Obi is the only 2027 presidential candidate followed by the rapper.
Minaj’s decision to follow Obi came shortly after she reposted a statement shared by the former Anambra State governor on Wednesday, in which he condemned the reported killings and abductions in Niger State.
Obi described the situation as a systematic devaluation of human life and called for intelligence-led action against criminal networks responsible for attacks and abductions across the country.
Minaj’s repost subsequently generated reactions among Nigerians and social media users in Nigeria and the diaspora.
Some users praised the rapper for drawing attention to concerns over insecurity in Nigeria, particularly calls for justice and greater protection for communities affected by attacks and abductions.
