Nigerian Exchange Group has recorded a strong first half performance for 2026, posting a pre tax profit of N14.76 billion and announcing an interim dividend of N1.30 per ordinary share as improved trading activity boosted earnings.
The News Chronicle reports that the Group’s impressive performance was driven by increased participation in the capital market as measured by higher transaction volumes and improved revenue from associated investments. Revenues more than doubled to N17.60 billion, while profit after tax also surged to N10.36 billion, representing an increase in value of the capital market sector.
Transaction fees remained the Group’s largest source of income, recording a significant rise in line with increased activity levels. Listing fees were also largely responsible for the improved performance, while returns on investments, including the Central Securities Clearing System, also contributed to the improved results.
NGX’s total assets therefore grew to N75.87 billion, while shareholders’ funds increased to N60.49 billion.
The interim dividend will be paid to qualifying shareholders after the dividend approval date and necessary regulatory approvals. The improved results are further evidence of confidence in the Nigerian capital market as the exchange continues to invest in technology, market development and initiatives to grow local and international participation in the equity market.
